Love, New York starring Sydney Morton (Netflix's She's Gotta Have It)  screened at multiple film festivals and, was featured on Issa Rae's #ShortFilmSundays. It also garnered nominations for, “Best Short Award” at the Reel Sisters Film Festival, and “Best Director” at the Utah Film Awards Festival. Additionally it was the third place finalist in the The Film Empire Diversity Filmmakers Mentorship 2018 contest. 

On her way to an audition, Carmen a struggling New York actress accidentally grabs the wrong cup of coffee. Leaving her to fight more than just nerves.

The Next Right Thing stars Stori Ayers (The Last OG), and Kezie Ross (Blood At The Root).  The series follows best friends Claire and De'adra as they naviagate their lives in New York one mishap at time while attempting to do The Next Right Thing. The Next Right Thing-Pilot episode will have its first film festival screening this October at the Oscar qualifying Reel Sisters Film Festival. 

De'Adra and Claire make a pact to be on their best behavior for date night, but find themselves surprised by what their dates bring to the table...

Such A Deal | Short Comedy 


Such A Deal stars Ebony Obsidian (If Beale Street Could Talk, Netflix's Master of None) and co-stars Damian Muziani. The project is currently in post-production.

On the first day of her new life in New York, Grace discovers that her sublets ceiling has caved in. In a rush she books an Air bnb, only to find out that the "charming tiny room" is not at all what she expected it to be...












Commit is a short comedy sketch starring Kenzie Ross and Ben Maters. 

"Two busy humantarian New Yorkers fall in love at first sight, but may not have time to actually date." 




Dionna McMillian is a film director and writer. She is best known for her short film, Love, New York, starring Sydney Morton (Cherly Overstreet of Netfilx’s She’s Gotta Have It). Love, New York screened at multiple film festivals and was featured on Issa Rae's #ShortFilmSundays. Dionna is currently in development on multiple projects, including a dramatic short,  season one of The Next Right Thing, and a feature film.

Dionna holds a M.F.A in filmmaking from American University. Currently, she works as a professor of film editing at New York Film Academy, Los Angeles, where she teaches as an Avid Certified Instructor. Prior to that she served Post-Production Department Chair at NYFA-NY. While serving as the Chair of Post-Production she taught in Beijing, China; Doha, Qatar; and Mumbai, India.

Dionna enjoys creating and collaborating on projects that explore the space in comedy where farce meets pathos. Her overall goals are to make content that entertains, and inspires viewers.
